Took a little time off!

Just got back from a wonderful few days in Cumbria - we stayed at a small private caravan site at Pier Cottage on the edge of Coniston Lake - so peaceful and calm, its stunningly beautiful and I feel relaxed and refreshed....

New School

Monday 6th September 2010
Our daughter, Rachael, starts at High School

Old Olive card

This colour is one of my favorites!  Old Olive from Stampin Up!.

Ingredients used:
Very Vanilla Cardstock - Old Olive Cardstock - Old Olive Ink .
Backing paper (not sure which collection it belongs to)
Oval Punch - Scalloped Oval Punch - Jumbo Wheel 'It's Beautiful'
'Oval all' Message Stamp - 'One of a Kind' Stamp  - Old Olive Ribbon
Snail Glue and Dimensionals

I was only going to use items which are not retiring! but most of the stamps I already own are on the retirement list which made choice of stamps to use limiting for me, but there are lots of other stamps available from Stampin Up! which will make good replacements with a little adaptation the same effect can be achieved with other stamps and indeed other colours.

Old Olive works well with Very Vanilla Rich Razzleberry or Cherry Cobbler for a more Christmas look, using a Christmas message and matching ribbon.

Stampin Up!

Well, have decided I am definitely going to sign up in October as a Demonstrator (Demo).  I am looking forward to seeing the new catalogue, which is due out on 1st October -  I am sure current Demo's will be showing us some samples to tempt us as they get to play with some of the new stuff before the launch.  I only know the catalogue will be bigger and better than before and featuring the new colour renovation as advertised.  I love the new colour collections they seem to be much more versatile and compliment each other nicely.

Cup Mat

Today I decided to use a cup mat I have had for ages and ages and  done nothing with!
I learnt today that my favourite Stampin Up! papers Bella Bleu paper set is being retired  (but I am sure I will find a new favourite in the new catalogue when it comes out in October)

For this cup mat, which is perspex,.you simply lay out the design inside and snap it shut encapsulating the papers inside.  I love this combination of colours so decided to make one for my craft table.  I have another empty mat so will do a similar thing with which ever paper set I fall in love with next!!

Joanne's SU Challenge

Today I decided to post the challenge set by Joanne of Mainly Flowers - Joanne sent out the paper and card and this is what I came up with - I decided to keep it simple.

Card stock in Really Rust, Taken With Teal and More Mustard, a piece of Autumn Meadows paper and some Mustard ribbon.  I used Taken with teal ink and stamp from 'Lovely as a tree' set.  I used a ½" circle punch and large ball embossing tool on a foam mat to make the card candy spots.

Desk top box

I made this desk top box after being inspired by a notelet box I found whilst on holiday - I used SU Tea & Crumpets paper to cover card saved from packaging.

Year 6 Learver's Prom

Just look at my beautiful daughter off to her leavers party - how time flies -

School Leaver Card

I know this is not SU products, but I made this card for my daughter's headteacher as they both leave Primary school to move to new schools, my Daughter to High School and Mrs Walker to pastures new.
I used Digi Downloaded stamps from Digital Pencil too and coloured with Copic markers.  The school Uniform is red so the colour is red and gold mirri board with red and grey uniforms on the children.
The Message inside was written by Rachael:  (sorry not sure what happened to the font? should be all the same size!!??

I started school so long ago, in class with Mrs Brown.

I moved to classes 1 & 2

Mrs Glass and Mrs Loft never pulled a frown

Wow!  now I’m a Junior moving into 3 & 4

And then in 5 I met Miss Doyle

The loveliest teacher of all!

What a shock! I’m now Year 6

With tests and SATs to do

But you all made learning fun for me

So a great big THANKS to you.

So now I’m off to High School

The big wide world and beyond

But I can honestly say,

that of Newchurch School
I have become quite fond.

Origami Box

I made this little box from instructions from  http://www.scor-pal.com/dec2_magazine/Origami%20Box.pdf.   The box is made from Rose Red card stock from the SU Rich Regals colour range trimmed with Tea & Crumpets paper.  The flower on top of the box made from punched scalloped circles spritzed with water and crushed.

Thursday 8 July 2010

Had a wonderful evening of entertainment at my daughter's Leaver's Concert.  all the pupils in Year 6 performed for the evening designed directed and choreographed by themselves for performing before the rest of the school during the day and parents in the evening.  The singing and dancing and presentations were excellent and we all had a wonderful evening.  Well done to all Year 6 and Mr Stanley class teacher and Mrs Walker Head teacher.  Mrs Walker also leaves this term for a new post.  Good Luck to her in her new role.
